Black German Celluloid Baby Doll (Turtlemark) - £125.00
     Fresh
out of his decades of storage this fabulous rare find antique
German celluloid baby doll is complete with original outfit. A very
handsome glass eyed baby boy who looks as though he was never played with,
immaculately clean, no play wear but an old attempt at re-string by
glueing head into position and elastic via outer thigh (legs still loosely
strung). There's some old damage to one foot which occurred during his
many years of storage. He retains perfect colour and finish, outfit
has no dirt or damage, sewn up at back from new but apart from a dent to his
groin I can find no damage underneath. 13 inches in height, he has the turtle
mark and "Germany" to neck..

Large 26" Antique German Armand Marseille Boy Doll - £220.00
     "Robin" has recently emerged from many years of storage, finely dressed in outfit made by original owner's grandmother (Christmas circa 1910) along with his original leather shoes. Robin is a very handsome large Armand Marseille 390 boy doll, an impressive 26 inches in height with perfect blue sleep eyes, open mouth, 3 upper teeth
(one missing) and original hair wig. The bisque head has wonderful smooth moulding and lovely pale creamy
colour, a little ingrained dirt to side seam and couple of tiny kiln dust freckles but no chips, cracks or hairline damage. He's on his original wood and composition ball jointed body, a very strong and sturdy quality body made for Armand Marseille by Cuno & Otto Dressel (red winged stamp to back shoulder). Body shows some wear to finish with loss of two fingers, chips to a couple of finger tips and old plaster was added over the years to secure some chipping to the toes. Firmly strung together with original factory stringing, no repaint or restoration of any kind. Outfit has a
few moth holes and dusty with age but couldn't suit him better!. Robin is marked "Armand Marseille - Made in Germany 390 A 11 M".

     Dating to circa 1910 this antique German Armand Marseille "Floradora" doll is
15 inches in height. A very pretty girl with blue sleep eyes (no lid wax), open mouth, all her teeth and original mohair
wig swept up into an elegant "up do". She's on her original wood and composition fully jointed body in strong sturdy condition with paint wear to arms/hands and
hand with bracelet is fixed with a few chips around wrist. All fingers and toes intact and Floradora's bisque head has no damage. The outfit was originally made for her when new, a little simple in it's needlework but still presents beautifully and compliments her colouring perfectly. Dress has delightful contrasting polka dot lining and she wears her original cotton undergarments, all in good clean condition. A very appealing
harder to find AM doll marked "Floradora - Made in Germany A 2/0 M".

    This antique German Porzellanfabrik Burggrub character toddler doll is a gorgeous little girl dating to the 1920s. She's 12 inches in height with blue sleep eyes, all lashes, original human hair short style toddler wig (thin at the back) and open mouth with both her front teeth. The bisque head has no chips, cracks or hairlines. She's on her original composition toddler body with one chipped finger and an old glue mend at one knee (there's sticking plaster residue around this) otherwise good strong condition for years with original factory finish.
Wearing a more modern outfit of flower print dress and white slip which suit her well.

delightful larger size antique German composition baby doll is a huge 23 inches in height. She has
perfect blue sleep eyes with all of her eyelashes intact, super colouring and open mouth with both her
front teeth. The quality hard composition head is in very good condition, just a little rubbing around neck base. The original composition body is excellent retaining super original factory finish, just a little paint wear around joints and chip to one finger end. This big
antique German baby is a lovely size for pram, chair or cot display!. Wearing good

     Antique German bisque
shoulder head doll, a very special little girl from Kestner's harder to find alphabet
series. She dates to circa 1880, fourteen inches in height with outstanding fine bisque turned head shoulder plate,
deep brown glass eyes in their original factory set, open mouth, all her dainty teeth and original two tone hair wig. She's on her original gusseted kid leather body showing a little age related wear as to be expected but overall excellent solid condition for years. Arms tad swingy at shoulders otherwise very good with finely detailed bisque lower arms, all fingers perfectly intact. The fine quality bisque shoulder head has superb detail to it, no chips, cracks or hairlines (original pate firmly plastered down). Lovely antique outfit of dress and full fine cotton undergarments, all in good clean condition. She's inscribed with letter "C" to back of crown and shoulder plate

Early English Antique Wax Little Girl Child Doll -

     Wonderful 12 inch antique English wax doll, a really beautiful
little girl with the most enchanting glass eyes, solemn closed mouth and old replacement mohair wig. She's a poured wax over plaster doll, also known as "reinforced wax" which date between 1870 - 1890. The wax is delicately flesh tinted with a little colour fade around the chin
area and brows are smudged. Face and back of head free from cracks etc. but as you can see there's a cotton patch nicely sewn to top of torso.. underneath this I can feel shoulders are damaged/incomplete. This is completely covered by the patch so not visible from exterior of doll and she displays well. The original cloth body and wax lower limbs are all in excellent order, beautifully preserved by her many layers of clothing. All fingers and toes perfectly intact. The multi
layered cotton and lace clothing include slips, jacket, "corset" and 2
little lacey hankies, all garments in excellent clean condition for their years.

    Wonderful rare find all original antique English poured wax doll dating right back to the 1860s. He's 13 inches in height with exquisite detail to the poured wax shoulder head, stunning glass eyes and completely original fine hair inserts (all intact). The wax is in excellent condition for it's many years, I can find no damage. The original cloth body and
wax lower limbs are all in excellent order, all fingers and toes intact. Wearing his original gown and undergarments with a little ageing to fabric as to be expected but still present beautifully on him. These early English poured wax dolls don't come up for sale very often, he's a fabulous piece of early doll making history and obviously been well treasured to have remained in such lovely condition today.

    Dating to the mid 1920s, this gorgeous antique German Armand Marseille Dream Baby doll is the more sought after example on AM's best quality chunky composition body with chubby limbs and clenched fists. She's 12 inches in height with blue sleep eyes, all lid wax retained and open mouth with both her bottom teeth. The bisque head is beautiful, no chips, cracks or hairlines, just a little ingrained dirt to back nape. The original heavy composition bent limb body is in excellent sturdy condition for years retaining it's original finish,
I can't fault it apart from a stable paint crack to top torso and a light craze
to one heel. All fingers and toes intact. This chubby antique German baby is a
wonderful example and a delight for display. Wearing a lovely antique taffeta
and lace trimmed slip dress with mother of pearl buttons along with cotton
handkerchief nappy. She's marked "AM Germany 351/3K".

to circa 1930s this harder to find antique British velveteen black cloth
doll retains her Merrythought label to sole of one foot. 11 inches in
height with side glancing glass eyes, lovely mass of wooly hair with original
factory ribbon intact. Very good condition for her years, no fading tears or
odours of any kind, just a little wear to lip paint. Non working squeaker in her
tummy.

      Dating to the early 1920s this wonderful life size antique German Schoenau & Hoffmeister child doll is a magnificent 29 inches in height. She has perfect blue sleep eyes, open mouth, all her teeth and antique dark blonde straight wig. The bisque head has a
small factory "beauty spot" to left lower cheek (firing freckle) and factory
separation to
back rim lip with criss cross hairline running down from it but no actual play damage apart from a few wig pulls above right ear area. The original chunky wood and composition ball jointed body is overall good, strong and sturdy. A few surface chips/hairlines to feet and some roughness to finish at her rear area (possibly an old repaint to torso but may well be original finish). All fingers and toes are intact. She's a fabulous big girl who presents beautifully in antique Victorian clothing of elaborate broderie anglaise dress, full undergarments and straw flower trimmed bonnet. All garments in good clean condition for years. She's marked "SPBH 91412 1/2".

    Dating to around 1910, this antique German "Baby Stuart" type character boy doll is 15 inches in height. He has wonderful detailed features, intaglio eyes and closed mouth. He's on his original fully jointed "broomstick leg" body in excellent condition for years, all fingers and toes intact (minor chip to one toe and thumb). The bisque head has a little ingrained dirt and couple of fine firing scratches from the factory (below one cheek and beside neck mould line) but no chips, cracks or hairlines. The mould number mark is very faint and tiny within the hair, looks to read 142. The antique cream wool gown looks to be his original, there's also a knitted "onesie" which is quite tatty.

    A very pretty antique German child doll by CM Bergmann beautifully
dressed all ready for school!.. Dating to ca 1916, she's 21 inches in height with blue sleep eyes,
original silk lashes, short human hair wig and open mouth with perfect row of bisque teeth. She's on her original harder to find straight leg jointed wood and composition body which has an old repaint (couple of craze lines within the paint) and loss of one thumb. The bisque head has no chips, cracks or hairlines, just two minor factory pin pricks to chin and couple of tiny kiln dust speckles. The
lovely old outfit includes pinafore, blouse with ribbon tie and brass tie bar pin, knitted undergarments and cream lace up shoes (shoes more modern). All garments in super condition for years, blouse just needs new fasteners at cuffs (currently pinned). She's marked with her mould no. "1916" to rim and "Germany B5" to neck.

    This antique German Ernst Heubach character toddler doll is a very handsome little boy for display who dates to around 1926 and measures 12.5 inches in height. He has perfect blue sleep eyes, all his lashes, open mouth, teeth, tongue and original mohair wig. The bisque head is excellent, free from chips, cracks or hairlines. Very handsomely dressed in his original outfit of white cotton shirt with tiny mother of pearl buttons,
silk lined shorts, leather belt and long brown socks. Shirt has light age marks
otherwise all garments are lovely for age with super detail to them (socks even have quaint little elasticated sock suspenders!).
The lace up shoes are later additions. He's on his outstanding original five piece composition toddler body, protected perfectly all these years by the original garments.
Full factory paint/glaze and perfect little fingers and toes with defining red accents. He's marked "Heubach Koppelsdorf 342.6/0 - Made in Germany".

crack to forehead

pouty closed mouth and blue sleep eyes set a tiny bit squiffy at the factory
(how cute!). He's on his original composition bent limb baby body in excellent condition for age, all original paint and finish, no damage apart from a chipped big toe. There are no cracks, chips or hairlines to the bisque head. Very handsomely dressed in navy/white knitted romper suit, he's a delightful little baby for display. Marked "AM 341 Germany 0.K".

antique German character baby doll by Recknagel dating to around 1920. She has
blue sleep eyes which are quite deeply set (from factory). Almost all lid wax is
intact and she retains all her hair lashes. Her open mouth has both it's teeth
and she wears her original wig which is very sparse so she would benefit a
replacement. The bisque head is free from chips, cracks or hairlines. The bent
limb composition body is surface grubby but good sturdy condition, just a few
light paint scuffs and two chipped finger ends. Nicely dressed in antique lace
trimmed cotton dress, slip and bonnet, all in good clean condition for their
years. She's marked "121 R.3.A. Germany".
All Original Early English Antique Wax Doll - Huge Size! -

   This early English antique wax-over composition doll is a super museum quality piece and wonderful large size of 31 inches in height. These wax dolls were known as "slit heads" due to hair being inserted into centre parting so we can reliably date her to at least 1860 (English slit head dolls were manufactured between the years 1800 - 1860). The face has nice moulding, deep blue glass eyes and lovely expression with faint hint of a smile. The thick wax of the shoulder head is excellent, only a couple of light surface
cracks (a far contrast from the "crazy faces" often associated with some thinner layered
wax-overs). Face has some age dirt as to be expected from a wax doll of her great age, she's completely all original with no repairs or restoration of any kind. She's on her original solid sawdust stuffed cloth body with the brown kid leather arms, Fabulous all original outfit complete with glass beadwork, bustle at the back, lots of fine lace trimmings and multi layered undergarments. A lovely rare find and fascinating part of English doll history. More photos available upon request.
